Introduction to globe valve

A globe valve refers to a valve in which the closing element (valve disc) moves along the centerline of the valve seat. According to the movement of the valve disc, the change in the valve seat opening is directly proportional to the stroke of the valve disc. Due to the relatively short opening or closing stroke of the valve stem and its highly reliable shut-off function, as well as the proportional relationship between the change in the valve seat opening and the stroke of the valve disc, this type of valve is very suitable for regulating flow. Therefore, this type of valve is very suitable for use as a cut-off, regulating, and throttling device. The principle for selecting globe valves is: 1. Globe valves should be used on pipelines or devices for high temperature and high pressure media. 2. On pipelines with lax flow resistance requirements. 3. Small valves can be selected from needle valves, instrument valves, sampling valves, pressure gauge valves, etc. 4. There is flow regulation or pressure regulation, but the requirement for regulation accuracy is not high, and the pipeline diameter is relatively small, such as on pipelines with nominal diameter ≤ 50mm, it is recommended to choose. 5. Small and large fertilizers in synthetic industry production should use high-pressure angle globe valves or high-pressure angle throttling valves with nominal pressure PN160 and nominal pressure 16MPa or PN320 and nominal pressure 32MPa. 6. In the desilication workshop and coking prone pipelines of alumina Bayer process production, it is easy to choose DC globe valves or DC throttling valves with separate valve bodies, removable valve seats, and hard alloy sealing pairs. 7. For water supply and heating projects in urban construction, globe valves, balance valves, or plunger valves can be used for pipelines with a nominal diameter of less than 150mm. The most obvious advantage is that during the opening and closing process, the friction between the valve disc and the sealing surface of the valve body is smaller than that of a gate valve, making it wear-resistant. The opening height is generally only 1/4 of the diameter of the valve seat channel, so it is much smaller than gate valves. Usually, there is only one sealing surface on the valve body and disc, so the manufacturing process is relatively good and easy to maintain.
